London Fire Brigade (LFB) is London’s fire and rescue service – one of the largest firefighting and rescue organisations in the world. We are here to make London a safer city. Employing over 5000 people across our operational team (our firefighters), control (our call handlers who answer 999 calls), fire safety and our non-operational team (our team who work behind the scenes to support our front-line services, which includes Fleet, IT, HR, Finance, Procurement, Communications team and many more).

A vacancy for an Administrative Assistant has arisen in the Central Operations Business Support Team who support Central Operations which is part of the Fire Stations Department. You would be working in a small team with five other Administrative Assistants and managers and would have a range of admin tasks to perform. You would be dealing with internal staff at all levels and, on some occasions, with the public.

Stage 1

1. Experience of providing administrative support whilst working flexibly as part of a team.

2. Experience of organising, planning and prioritising work and ensuring that deadlines are met.

3. The ability to communicate clearly, appropriately, and accurately in writing, by telephone and in person.

4. A good understanding of the reasons for having an equalities and inclusion policy and why it needs to be observed in all areas of work and behaviour. An understanding of one’s own individual responsibility with regard to the policy.
