Base salary: £40,000–£50,000, dependent on experience

Annual KPI bonus: Up to £10,000

On-target earnings: £50,000–£60,000

Additional benefits: Indicatively valued at £9,500+ in the first year

Potential first-year total reward: £59,500–£69,500+

We are looking for top talent within residential childcare and are prepared to reward people who can make a measurable contribution. This opportunity is for a capable, commercially aware Deputy Home Manager who can support the leadership of two solo residential children’s homes and take genuine ownership of delegated responsibilities.

The Deputy Home Manager will work closely with the Registered Manager while holding meaningful responsibility for staffing, safeguarding, recording, quality assurance and the day-to-day performance of both homes. The salary and KPI package reflects the level of accountability expected and provides a clear route for people who want to progress with the organisation.

A message from Daniel, Company Director

My name is Daniel, and I am one of the Company Directors and Co-Founders. I helped create the organisation from my own lived experience of growing up in care.

I know first-hand how important it is for young people to have safe, stable and nurturing homes, with adults who genuinely care, stay committed and do not give up when things become difficult.

We are looking for a Deputy Home Manager who understands the responsibility of supporting two children’s homes, developing staff and creating the right culture for children who may have experienced trauma, instability and rejection. Our standards are exceptionally high because the children we care for deserve nothing less.

This role is for someone who will support the Registered Manager, lead from the front, remain hands-on and combine compassion with clear accountability. As we continue to grow, we will invest in and properly reward people who help us create homes where children feel safe, valued and not given up on.

The opportunity

You will work alongside the Registered Manager to maintain two safe, stable and well-organised homes. You will be trusted with defined areas of responsibility and expected to follow through on decisions, actions and standards across both homes.

The role requires someone who understands that good care and effective management are closely connected. Strong rotas, reliable staffing, accurate records, active supervision and sensible cost control all contribute to better experiences and greater stability for each child.

You will be expected to contribute to:

  • Safe, individualised and child-centred care
  • Strong safeguarding and risk-management practice
  • A stable, capable and accountable staff team
  • Accurate records and consistent regulatory compliance
  • Effective rota management and sensible use of resources
  • Placement stability and positive professional relationships
  • Continuous improvement and strong inspection outcomes

What you will be responsible for

  • Supporting the Registered Manager with the day-to-day operation of both homes.
  • Providing visible leadership, guidance and support to the residential staff team.
  • Helping to ensure the child in each home receives safe, consistent and individualised care.
  • Maintaining high standards of safeguarding, risk management and professional practice.
  • Supporting staff rotas, deployment and the appropriate use of staffing resources.
  • Completing and monitoring staff supervision, team meetings and development actions.
  • Ensuring care plans, risk assessments, daily logs and regulatory records are complete and accurate.
  • Supporting audits, quality assurance, monitoring visits and Ofsted preparation.
  • Addressing poor practice, missed actions or declining standards promptly.
  • Building constructive relationships with social workers, commissioners, families and other professionals.
  • Supporting placement stability and the effective management of operational pressures.
  • Contributing to budget awareness, control of overtime and reduced reliance on agency staffing.
  • Deputising for the Registered Manager when required.
  • Participating in the management on-call rota, including weekends and bank holidays.

Your KPI opportunity

You will have the opportunity to earn an annual discretionary KPI bonus of up to £10,000. The bonus recognises Deputies who take ownership of their responsibilities and make a measurable contribution to safe, stable and well-run homes.

Performance measures will include:

  • Ofsted and independent inspection outcomes
  • Occupancy and placement stability
  • Staff supervision compliance
  • Quality, safeguarding and regulatory standards
  • Director standards inspections
  • Delivery of agreed operational responsibilities

Career development

We are continuing to grow and intend to develop future Registered Managers from within the organisation. Deputy Home Managers who demonstrate the required leadership, judgement, qualifications and performance may be considered for the Trainee Registered Home Manager Development Programme when suitable opportunities arise. Progression is based on capability and organisational requirements; it is not automatic or solely time-based.

Your wider benefits package

In addition to salary and KPI earnings, the proposed employee and management benefits package has an indicative first-year value of approximately £9,500+, before special recognition awards.

  • 36 days’ paid holiday, comprising 28 days plus 8 bank holidays
  • Private medical care
  • Life insurance scheme
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Healthcare cashback scheme
  • Employee discounts and benefits platform
  • £250 fuel allowance for authorised travel between homes
  • Company-funded Level 5 qualification, where required
  • Management CPD and professional development
  • Dedicated Ofsted preparation support
  • Management development and future progression opportunities
  • Company-funded DBS renewals
  • Free meals and activities on qualifying shifts
  • Guaranteed birthday day off
  • £500 following successful registration of a first home and a further £500 following successful registration of a second home
  • Attendance and Reliability Bonus of up to £1,500 per year, subject to eligibility
  • Length of Service Benefit of up to £1,000 per year after one year’s service, subject to eligibility
  • Access to employee recognition awards, including the Employee of the Year holiday prize

Who we are looking for

You will be a reliable and confident residential childcare leader who can support the Registered Manager across two homes while taking ownership of delegated responsibilities and maintaining standards when the manager is not present.

You will need:

  • Experience as a Deputy Home Manager, Team Leader or experienced Senior Residential Support Worker within a residential children’s home.
  • A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, or equivalent.
  • A sound understanding of safeguarding, risk management and professional boundaries.
  • Working knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.
  • Experience supporting, supervising or leading residential staff.
  • Strong recording, communication and organisational skills.
  • The confidence to make decisions, challenge poor practice and follow actions through.
  • An understanding of rotas, staffing pressures and the need to use resources responsibly.
  • The ability to remain calm and effective during demanding situations.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Location and working requirements

The role is based in Nottinghamshire and requires travel between the two homes and office locations. This is an on-site management position and includes participation in the out-of-hours management rota. Full details about the organisation and responsible homes will be shared with shortlisted applicants as part of the confidential recruitment process.

Apply

Applications are welcomed from experienced residential childcare professionals who are ready to take substantial responsibility for the standards, staff teams and daily operation of two solo homes.

Pay: £50,000.00-£60,000.00 per year
