Hours of work

● 24 hours/week, variable days including alternate weekend and evening shifts.

● Start and finish times are variable and in line with business demands.

● The role is a Permanent position, based on a 52 week contract.

● The salary will be paid in 12 equal monthly instalments. Salary £24222.25 (pro rata) Additional Benefits

Your role

You will work primarily in a front of house role alongside our Café team, serving a variety of food and beverages across Rectors Café in our main building, the Old Union Coffee Shop on North Street. You will be working alongside other team leaders and with part time student staff including those at school age as Cafe Supervisor September 2026 part of a young enthusiastic frontline team. This will involve alternate weekend working and exact shifts will vary week to week according to the needs of the operation.

Description of Specific Duties

● Be responsible for the Open/close and set up/close down of Rectors or any of our other satellite operations as required and be a responsible key holder.

● Maintaining stock levels in line with levels of trade and minimising waste through effective stock management. Completing monthly stock take counts and recording counts accurately.

● Placing daily orders with the suppliers inline with business demands, and the completion of daily paperwork and use and update of EPOS and stock system.

● To assist with the upkeep of the rota and to ensure all shifts are filled and staff are on time for their shifts, approving shifts on completion.

● Accepting deliveries of goods, checking, signing and ensuring they get stored away promptly and correctly in fridges, freezers or dry stores and that stock is rotated.

● Maintaining high levels of customer service throughout the day, serving customers with hot drinks, food and a variety of soft drinks as required to the highest standard and to meet service specifications.

● Ensure staff are adhering to wearing the correct staff uniform, all staff are compliant with food safety regulations and are presentable for shift

● Inspiring and motivating the staff to make every moment right for the team and customers including identifying teachable moments to share best practices with the team ● Handle customer inquiries and resolve any service issues promptly, escalating any complaints that you are unable to resolve.

● Reconciliation of the till and cash floats at the change or end of shift and the completion of other various daily reports.

● Operating the till for orders and payments including cash, credit card, vouchers and account payments in line with company financial procedures

● Ensure all displays are maintained and are time relevant, maintaining stock levels to the business level.

● Ensure all due diligence is completed in line with legislational requirements and to the correct standard. Report any issues to the Catering Manager for escalation. Maintained up to date knowledge of food safety and allergen management legislation and adherence to policies.

● Provide front-line training for staff and advise the Catering Manager where additional training is required.

● Ensure the service area (including wash-up area) and public areas (including toilets) are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness.

● Ensuring that all marketing displayed in the area is relevant, in date and presentable, informing the Catering Manager when replacements are required.

● Liaise with the Catering Manager daily including suggesting initiatives for improvements in service, products, methods or operation.

● To assist with events and functions as required

● Any other business requirements inline with your role that are requested by the Catering Manager or other senior manager.
