About Dio’s

Dio’s Deli is an independent deli on North Street, built around great food, quality ingredients and a genuine love of a really good sandwich. We keep things simple: fresh, thoughtfully prepared food, bold flavours and a polished final product that we’re proud to put in front of our customers.

We’re looking for a passionate, hands-on Part-Time Chef to join our kitchen team. You’ll play an important role in preparing our daily deli offering, supporting our Head Chef and helping us develop the weekly specials that keep our menu fresh and exciting. Must be happy to run the kitchen solo for some shifts.

The Role

This is a practical, varied kitchen role, ideal for someone who enjoys working with quality ingredients and takes pride in getting the details right.

You’ll work closely with the Head Chef to keep the kitchen running smoothly, while taking responsibility for the preparation and presentation of our sandwiches, salads and weekly specials.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Head Chef with day-to-day kitchen preparation and operations
  • Design, cost and test a weekend special once a month on rotation with the other chefs
  • Prepare our daily selection of fresh sandwiches and salads
  • Assist with food preparation, cooking and general kitchen duties
  • Maintain consistently high standards of quality, presentation and portion control
  • Keep the kitchen clean, organised and compliant with food safety and hygiene standards
  • Work efficiently as part of a small, collaborative team, we're a friendly bunch!
  • Help ensure service runs smoothly, particularly during busy periods

About You

We’re looking for someone who is organised, reliable and genuinely passionate about food.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Proven experience in food preparation and cooking within a professional kitchen
  • Previous restaurant, deli or catering experience
  • Good knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
  • The ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure
  • Strong organisational skills and excellent attention to detail
  • A positive, team-focused approach
  • Flexibility to work part-time hours, including weekends when required
  • A genuine love of top-quality sandwiches and pride in producing a polished final product
