Full job description

Take your clinical skills beyond the ambulance. Join the RAF Reserves.

Are you looking for a new challenge? As an RAF Reserve Medic, you will take your civilian medical expertise and apply it in challenging, dynamic military environments. Committing just 27 days a year, you will provide essential medical support to personnel, respond to medical emergencies, and provide airfield crash cover on stations in the UK and on global exercises.

What’s in it for you?

  • World-Class Training: Enhance your civilian clinical skills with specialist military medical training.
  • Travel & Adventure: Opportunities to deploy on operations and exercises worldwide.
  • Competitive Pay: Day rate starting at £63.27 + additional military benefits.
  • Flexibility: A part-time commitment designed to fit perfectly around your primary civilian career.

Please note: Within the RAF, Paramedics fall under the wider specialisation of 'Medic'. When you click through to apply, you will be directed to the 'Medic' page, but your specific clinical skills will be utilised in a Paramedic capacity.

Essential Entry Requirements: Due to the nature of this role, candidates must meet strict eligibility criteria set by the Ministry of Defence. Please ensure you meet all the following requirements before applying:

  • Professional Status: You must be a Registered Paramedic with the HCPC.
  • Currently Practising: You must be actively working in either a Pre-Hospital Emergency Care or Acute Clinical Care setting.
  • Nationality & Residency: You must be a citizen of the UK, Republic of Ireland, or Commonwealth (with indefinite leave to remain) and have resided in the UK for the 5 years immediately preceding your application.
  • Age & Education: You must be aged 18-54 and hold a GCSE at Grade C/4 (or Scottish National 5 grade C) or above in English Language and Mathematics.
  • Health & Fitness: You must be medically fit for military service, which includes a 2.4km treadmill run and meeting specific BMI standards (typically between 18 and 30).
  • Security Checks: You must be able to achieve Security Check (SC) clearance (unspent convictions and bankruptcy are two examples of where you would not pass this).

Full eligibility criteria can be found when you click to start your application.

Job Type: Part-time

  • Discounted or free food
  • Free or subsidised travel
