Job Title: Environmental Consultant
Location: Based in Inverness (with travel to project sites as required)
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Salary: Negotiable, dependent on experience
About the Role
ADLnature are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Environmental Consultant to join our growing team based in Inverness. This is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of peatland restoration and environmental projects across Scotland, helping to deliver positive outcomes for climate, biodiversity, and land management.
The role will involve working closely with landowners, contractors, statutory bodies, and the wider project team to support the planning, delivery, monitoring, and reporting of environmental projects.
We are looking for candidates with previous experience in environmental consultancy, ecology, peatland restoration, or a related field. The successful candidate will join a supportive and growing team, with ongoing opportunities for professional development across a range of environmental disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting the planning and delivery of peatland restoration and environmental projects
- Undertaking fieldwork, habitat assessments, and site monitoring
- Liaising with landowners, contractors, and partner organisations
- Supporting project reporting, mapping, and data management
- Using GIS, survey data, and environmental monitoring tools to support project delivery
- Ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard
- Assisting with environmental surveys and ecological monitoring where required
Requirements
- HND, degree, or equivalent qualification in environmental science, ecology, geography, or another relevant discipline
- Full, valid UK driver’s licence (essential for travel to remote project sites)
Essential Skills
- Working knowledge of GIS software and data capture techniques
- Confident and safety conscious when working in remote and mountainous terrain
- Strong project management and organisational skills
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships
Desirable Skills
- Knowledge of peatland surveying and restoration techniques
- Experience in habitat and species survey design, planning, and fieldwork
- ECoW and Ornithological survey experience
- Familiarity with drones and their application in environmental monitoring and data collection
- Experience monitoring and reporting on environmental projects
- Protected species survey licences or related ecological survey experience would be advantageous
