We are seeking an outstanding Front Office Manager to lead our Front Office operations at our prestigious Bowood Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort. This is a pivotal leadership role for someone who is driven by service excellence, values teamwork, and understands how to balance guest satisfaction with commercial success.


The role:

Reporting directly to the Deputy General Manager, you will oversee and direct all aspects of the Front Office operation, ensuring the highest standards of guest service are consistently delivered while achieving targets for quality, cost control, revenue, and profitability.
You will lead and inspire the Front Office, Night, Guest Relations, and Porter teams, ensuring seamless coordination across departments and creating a welcoming, efficient, and memorable guest journey from arrival to departure.
Working on a rota basis Monday to Sunday.
Shift pattern: 06.45-15.15 and 14.30-23.00.
Reliable transport is essential due to location and shift times. This is an ideal commute for those in Calne, Chippenham, Devizes, Swindon, and surrounding areas.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, and develop Front Office, Night, Guest Relations, and Porter teams.
  • Drive a culture of service excellence, ensuring every guest interaction exceeds expectations.
  • Oversee daily Front Office operations, ensuring smooth and efficient service delivery.
  • Manage departmental financial performance, including budgets, cost control, and revenue optimisation.
  • Maximise profitability through effective room scheduling, inventory management, and system utilisation.
  • Collaborate closely with Food & Beverage, Housekeeping, Reservations, and Accounts teams.
  • Recruit, train, coach, and evaluate team members in line with company procedures.
  • Prepare and analyse reports on guest satisfaction, performance metrics, and industry benchmarks.
  • Maintain strong operational control while continuously seeking opportunities for innovation and improvement.

To be considered for this role, you will have:

  • At least 2 years' experience in a Front Office Manager, Assistant Front Office Manager or Hotel Duty Manager position.
  • Previous experience within a 4-star or 5-star hotel environment.
  • Experience managing Reception, Night and Guest Services teams.
  • Strong knowledge of hotel PMS systems such as Opera, Guestline, Rezlynx or similar.
  • Experience managing departmental budgets, labour costs and room inventory.
  • A proven ability to improve guest satisfaction scores and operational performance.
  • Flexibility to work early, late and weekend shifts.


You will also understand the realities of a busy hospitality environment, including weekend and peak-period working.
