Job Title

General Assistant

Location

Tongadale Hotel, Wentworth Street, Portree, Isle of Skye

Objectives

Ideal candidates should have the ability to work in a busy environment, especially during the height of the season, have the ability to work well as part of a team and possess strong communication skills.

Reporting to

Department Managers

Overview

The Tongadale Hotel is a 25 bedroom hotel offering comfortable accommodation. The hotel also has a bar and a restaurant seating 52 covers. The hotel has a long tradition in island hospitality having been owned and operated by the same family for over 70 years.

Key Responsibilities

Housekeeping

  • Stripping/making beds
  • Cleaning bedrooms and bathrooms - ensuring a high level of cleanliness is maintained
  • Processing laundry

Restaurant - Breakfast and Evening Service

  • Welcome guests/customers and escort them to tables.
  • Take food and beverage orders
  • Serve food and beverage orders
  • Prepare tables
  • Deliver checks and collect payment
  • Clear used crockery, silverware and glassware from tables to the kitchen for cleaning

Bar

  • Prepare alcoholic or non alcoholic beverages
  • Restock bar fridges
  • Follow opening procedures for the bar (day shift)
  • Follow closing down procedures for the bar (evening shift)

Work Patterns

  • Permanent position
  • Monday to Sunday
  • Annualised 40 hour per week over 5 days
  • Flexible hours between 7am and 11pm
  • Two consecutive days off
  • Holidays calculated on numbers of hours worked
