Machine Operator (Dumpling Food Production) – Cantonese & Mandarin Speaking

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Machine Operator to join our dumpling food production team based in Reading. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting food production machinery to ensure the efficient manufacture of high-quality dumpling products.

This role requires previous experience operating production machinery within a manufacturing or food production environment, together with the ability to carry out routine preventative maintenance and basic repairs to minimise downtime.

Due to the nature of the role and the need to communicate effectively with members of our production team and overseas suppliers, the successful candidate must be able to communicate fluently in Cantonese and Mandarin, as well as English.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate dumpling production machinery safely and efficiently to meet daily production targets
  • Set up, adjust, and calibrate production equipment for different products and production runs
  • Carry out routine preventative maintenance on machinery to ensure optimum performance
  • Diagnose machine faults and perform basic mechanical repairs where appropriate
  • Conduct daily inspections of machinery
  • Monitor product quality throughout the production process and make machine adjustments where necessary
  • Ensure all production equipment is cleaned and maintained in accordance with food hygiene and safety standards
  • Comply with all company policies, HACCP procedures, health and safety regulations, and food hygiene requirements
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin where required for operational purposes

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience operating food production or manufacturing machinery
  • Experience carrying out routine preventative maintenance and basic mechanical repairs on production equipment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to identify and resolve common machine faults
  • Experience working within a food manufacturing environment
  • Good understanding of food hygiene, HACCP, and health and safety requirements
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced production environment
  • Good attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality products
  • Ability to communicate fluently in Cantonese and Mandarin, as well as English, to meet the operational requirements of the role
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience operating dumpling, pastry, or other food processing machinery.
  • Mechanical, engineering, or maintenance qualifications
  • Forklift licence (preferred but not essential)
