Full job description

The Varsity Hotel & Spa is looking for an Events Co-Ordinator to join the Sales team on a full-time basis. With a city-centre location, the hotel boasts 48 wonderfully boutique bedrooms, two dining venues, and the iconic Roof Terrace bar. The place is popular for all manors of events and meetings, and we are seeking a positive, well-organised individual that can work well within our busy Sales department.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Managing the full meeting and event booking process, from initial inquiry to post-event follow-up.
  • Developing strong relationships with corporate clients, event planners, and key stakeholders to drive repeat business.
  • Working closely with the sales and revenue teams to maximize bookings and optimize event profitability.
  • Coordinating with the operations and catering teams to ensure all event requirements are delivered flawlessly.
  • Preparing proposals and negotiating contracts to secure bookings.
  • Handling client requests, resolving any issues promptly, and delivering exceptional customer satisfaction.
  • Receiving and converting M&E enquiries via different channels and third parties
  • Supporting the events and reservations team
  • Seeking feedback post event

The core skills and experience required to succeed:

  • Previous experience in meeting and events, sales, or the day-to-day running of hotels.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to identify revenue opportunities and drive sales.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships while delivering exceptional service.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure business and maximize profitability.
  • Ability to manage multiple events simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and event management or CRM software.
  • Previous experience of PMS systems such as Opera, ResLink or other is essential, however further training will be provided
