Full job description

Fairgroves Estate Agents is an independent lettings and management agency. We have enough maintenance across our managed homes and student properties to keep someone busy every working day, and we're looking for a skilled, reliable, self-employed property maintenance contractor to take it on.

Based in Portsmouth, covering Chichester and Winchester. Full-time, Monday to Friday, 40 hours a week.

The work

- General property maintenance and repairs in occupied and empty homes

- Painting and decorating

- Woodwork and carpentry, including fitting and adjusting doors and door handles

- Basic plumbing, such as replacing a kitchen sink, taps and traps, and fixing leaks

- Basic landscaping and garden upkeep, such as weeding, mowing lawns and cutting back shrubs and bushes

- Helping tenants who have lost their keys, including letting them in and changing locks and barrels

- Removing and disposing of old broken appliances and fitting new ones, such as washing machines, tumble dryers and fridge freezers

- General repairs, sealing, patching, minor tiling and flat-pack assembly

- Reporting back with photos and notes on each job

You'll need

- A full UK driving licence

- Your own fully equipped van and your own tools

- Public liability insurance

- At least 2 years' experience in property maintenance or multi-trade work

- Two references

- A mobile phone (a company mobile can be provided if needed)

- Willingness to work from Portsmouth and cover our properties in Chichester and Winchester

- A smart, friendly approach with tenants

What we offer

- Full-time, ongoing work, Monday to Friday, 40 hours a week

- £200 to £250 per day, depending on experience, paid fortnightly on invoice

- Clear job instructions, with materials arranged by us

- A company mobile if needed

- A friendly local team who value reliable contractors

No gas or electrical work is required. You will be self-employed and responsible for your own tax and insurance.
