Multi-Trade Operative – Social Housing Reactive Maintenance & Voids

Location: Midlands (Derby, Nottingham, Leamington Spa, Stoke-on-Trent and surrounding areas)

Salary: £34,376 – £36,185 per annum

About Spirit Home

Spirit Home is seeking an experienced and motivated Multi-Trade Operative to join our growing team. This role covers reactive maintenance and void property works within the social housing sector across the Midlands, including Derby, Nottingham, Leamington Spa, Stoke-on-Trent and surrounding areas. There may also be opportunities to work in other areas of the UK depending on business requirements.

You must be willing to travel as part of your role.

The Role

You will be responsible for delivering a high-quality, customer-focused maintenance service, ensuring repairs are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard while maintaining excellent customer service.

You will predominantly work independently while remaining in regular communication with our administration and management team based in the South of England.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out reactive maintenance and void property repairs within occupied and empty social housing properties.
  • Deliver a high standard of workmanship across multiple trades.
  • Organise and manage your own daily workload effectively.
  • Plan your day to ensure the correct materials are available to complete repairs right first time wherever possible.
  • Record completed works, findings and job updates accurately using a mobile device.
  • Maintain excellent communication with residents, clients and the Spirit Home management team.
  • Work safely, professionally and in accordance with company procedures.
  • Take responsibility for company-issued vehicles, mobile phone, tools, equipment, uniform and PPE.
  • Participate in out-of-hours work and paid overtime when required.

Essential Skills & Experience

Applicants must have proven experience in ALL of the following trades (essential):

  • Plumbing
  • Joinery
  • Minor electrical repairs
  • Patch plastering

Experience in the following trades is also highly desirable:

  • Wall and floor tiling
  • Decorating
  • Glazing
  • General property maintenance

Applicants must also:

  • Have previous experience working within occupied social housing properties.
  • Be confident working independently and managing their own workload.
  • Be proactive, reliable and able to problem solve.
  • Have excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Be flexible with working hours to meet customer and business requirements.
  • Hold a full, clean UK driving licence.
  • Own a comprehensive set of hand tools (larger tools and specialist plant will be provided by Spirit Home).
  • Hold a current DBS certificate or be willing to undergo a DBS check.
  • Be smart, professional and presentable when representing Spirit Home.

Working Hours

  • Monday to Friday
  • 8:00am – 5:00pm
  • One-hour unpaid lunch break

Paid overtime, including evenings, weekends and out-of-hours work, may be available and will be required to meet operational demands.
