Job Summary:

The Quality Lab Assistant is responsible for ensuring that products, components, and processes comply with internal specifications, regulatory requirements, and quality standards. The role supports the Quality function by maintaining the Quality Management System, promoting Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and ensuring compliance with relevant ISO, EN, BS standards, European Directives, and other applicable regulatory requirements to achieve consistent product quality and continuous improvement.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure products, materials, and processes comply with company quality standards, GMP, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform laboratory testing using approved analytical methods and equipment.
  • Conduct Goods In inspections, testing, and product release activities.
  • Coordinate environmental and water monitoring for cleanrooms and production areas, investigating Out of Specification (OOS) and Out of Trend (OOT) results.
  • Support investigations into customer complaints, non-conformances, product rejections, and corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Prepare, review, and maintain quality documentation, including batch release records, test certificates, SOPs, and manufacturing specifications.
  • Liaise with Production, Warehouse, Supply Chain, external laboratories, and sterilisation providers to ensure efficient quality processes.
  • Assist with internal, customer, and regulatory audits, ensuring compliance with quality management requirements.
  • Monitor, report, and resolve quality deviations while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records within the Quality Management System (QMS) and ensure documentation is completed to a high standard.
  • Contribute to departmental KPIs and support the achievement of business objectives.
  • Promote effective teamwork, collaboration, and a culture of quality across the organisation.

Personal Specifications:

  • Experience in a quality assurance, laboratory, microbiology, testing, or technical/administrative environment.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or ISO 13485 Quality Management Systems.
  • Strong planning, organisational, and time management skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Analytical mindset with effective problem-solving and root cause investigation skills.
  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and confident using computer-based systems.
  • Self-motivated, organised, and able to prioritise workload in a fast-paced environment.
  • A collaborative team player with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.

  • Lancaster LA1 4XS: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
