Toolroom Operative / Toolmaker - Press / Pre-Pierce & Cut Tooling
Oldbury, West Midlands
£33,000 per annum
Monday–Friday | Days | 37 hours per week | On-Site

MET Recruitment is recruiting for an experienced Toolroom Operative / Toolmaker to join a well-established manufacturing business in Oldbury.

This is a hands-on position within a busy engineering and manufacturing environment, supporting production through the manufacture, repair and maintenance of tooling and components.

Please note: previous hands-on experience working with pre-pierce and cut tooling is essential for this vacancy.

The role

Working as part of the Toolroom team, you will:

  • Manufacture, maintain, repair and fault-find press and shear tooling
  • Work specifically with pre-pierce and cut tooling
  • Operate CNC and conventional/manual Toolroom machinery
  • Undertake surface grinding, milling and turning
  • Work with fixturing and wire EDM
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Work accurately to specified tolerances
  • Support tooling breakdowns to minimise production downtime
  • Manufacture new components and tooling to meet production requirements
  • Contribute to continuous improvement across the Toolroom and wider manufacturing operation

What we're looking for

We are specifically looking for candidates with a strong Toolroom / Toolmaking background within a manufacturing environment.

You will need:

  • Previous experience with pre-pierce and cut tooling – essential
  • Experience in press/shear tool manufacture, maintenance and fault finding
  • CNC and manual machining experience
  • Surface grinding, milling and turning experience
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and work accurately to tolerances
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • A practical, hands-on approach
  • Ability to work effectively within a busy production environment

Forklift and overhead crane experience would be useful but isn't essential, as training can be provided.

Hours & package

Salary: £33,000 per annum
Hours: Monday–Thursday 7:30am–4:00pm; Friday 7:30am–12:30pm — 37 hours per week.
