Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic A level Maths and A level furthers Maths Tutor.

to support students in developing their mathematical skills in Newbury.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for teaching and a strong understanding of mathematics and feel comfortable to teach in at A level, with experience working with children or students requiring specialised educational support.

This role offers an opportunity to make a positive impact on learners’ academic progress and confidence. The position is paid and suitable for individuals committed to fostering a supportive learning environment.

We are finalising the location in Newbury with a permenant location in the centre of the town

Duties

  • Deliver personalised Maths tutoring sessions tailored to students’ individual needs and learning styles
  • Prepare engaging lesson plans and educational materials to facilitate effective learning
  • Assess students’ progress regularly and adapt teaching strategies accordingly
  • Support students in understanding complex mathematical concepts through clear explanations and practical examples
  • Foster a positive, encouraging atmosphere that boosts student confidence and motivation
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, or special education staff to ensure comprehensive support for learners
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress, and areas for improvement

Skills

  • Proven experience in tutoring or teaching mathematics at various levels
  • Ability to work effectively with children and young learners, including those requiring special education support
  • Strong communication skills to explain concepts clearly and engage students actively
  • Patience, adaptability, and the ability to motivate students of diverse abilities
  • Organised approach to lesson planning and record keeping
  • Knowledge of educational best practices and current curriculum standards is desirable
