Who We Are

Network Rail High Speed Ltd. (NRHS) is responsible for operating and maintaining the UK's only international high-speed railway (HS1) owned by London St. Pancras Highspeed.

The 109km London St. Pancras Highspeed infrastructure consists of a diverse range of railway assets such as the track, signalling, overhead line, lineside buildings, depots, viaducts and long tunnels. NRHS is also responsible for operating and maintaining three international stations; St Pancras, Stratford and Ebbsfleet International.

As a wholly owned subsidiary of Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd, NRHS is privately financed under an agreement with our client London St. Pancras Highspeed, undertaking a diverse range of activities from railway infrastructure maintenance and operations - through to station facilities management and retail on behalf of our client.¿

This is your opportunity to take on a dynamic leadership role at the heart of station operations. As a Shift Station Manager you'll play a vital part in keeping everything running safely, smoothly, and efficiently-while delivering an exceptional experience for every passenger.

What You'll Do

  • Lead with impact - Take ownership of station operations during your shift, setting clear expectations and providing visible, hands-on leadership. You'll motivate, coach, and support your team to consistently deliver high standards of customer service while maintaining a strong safety culture across all activities.
  • Take control when it matters most - Act as the key decision-maker during incidents, disruptions, and emergency situations. You'll assess risk in real time, coordinate responses, and communicate effectively with colleagues, control centres, and emergency services to ensure swift, safe, and well-managed outcomes.
  • Work as one team - Build strong working relationships with train operators, retail partners, contractors, and internal teams to ensure the station operates as a unified environment. You'll actively coordinate operational activity, manage competing priorities, and ensure a consistent and efficient flow throughout the station.
  • Champion safety and compliance - Maintain rigorous operational standards by ensuring full compliance with safety regulations, environmental policies, and accessibility requirements. You'll carry out inspections, monitor performance, and take decisive action to address risks and uphold a safe environment for passengers and staff.
  • Drive continuous improvement - Use your operational insight to identify trends, resolve recurring issues, and improve processes. You'll contribute to performance reviews, support training and development, and play a key role in enhancing the overall effectiveness and resilience of station operations.

Your experience and skills

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for an experienced operational leader who brings not only capability, but presence, judgement, and drive. This role suits someone who is confident taking responsibility in a live operational environment, can balance safety with service, and knows how to lead people through both routine and high-pressure situations.

What you'll need........

  • Proven experience in leading and developing teams within a fast-paced operational environment
  • Strong decision-making skills, with the ability to assess risk and take control in time-critical situations
  • Demonstrable planning and organisational capability, with experience managing shifting priorities
  • A consistently customer-focused mindset, balancing service delivery with operational requirements
  • Willingness and commitment to gain and maintain safety, compliance, and incident management competencies
  • A proactive approach to inclusion, team engagement, and continuous personal and professional development

Bonus points is you've got ............

  • Experience within safety-critical environments, including safety management systems or accident/incident investigation
  • Good commercial awareness, with an understanding of budgets, cost control, and operational efficiency
  • Confidence using IT systems, with experience in reporting, data analysis, and performance monitoring
  • Knowledge of railway or transport operations, including an understanding of continuous improvement methodologies

All positive drugs and alcohol test results for prospective candidates will be securely held on Sentinel database and a 5 year suspension from applying for a safety critical role, a role which requires PTS certification or a Key Safety role on Network Rail Managed Infrastructure will be enforced.
