Full job description

Established in 1909, Johnsons Coaches are an award-winning coach operator and we are located in the heart of the Midlands in Henley in Arden.

We are expanding our driving team and we are looking for enthusiastic, friendly and professional trainee drivers to join the Johnsons family!

We have our own in-house driver training scheme and over the years we have been very successful in taking on competent car and van drivers of any age and providing all the training and support needed for them to qualify as a PCV driver. These drivers then often go on to have long and rewarding careers with us and in the wider coach industry.

What the job and training involves:

Coach driving is a professional vocation and is probably the most challenging driving job there is! This is because you will be transporting different people and different age groups to different places every day and the customers will expect you to know where you are going, plus you’ll be expected to always provide excellent customer service too!

To get started, you will need to complete a medical and apply for your category D provisional licence. Once you have this, we can then start on the theory and hazard perception tests and then the practical side of the driver training. You will be offered a contract of employment with guaranteed hours prior to starting training and will be paid from your first day of training with us! The training will consist of theory and practical lessons getting you up to the standard required to pass your PCV licence.

Following you passing your PCV test with us and becoming ‘operational’, you will remain as a newly qualified driver for your driving work until our Training Team deem that are ready to be released from training. Furthermore, during this time, although you are now a qualified coach driver, you will remain under the authority of our Training Team. This is because your first year is a steep learning curve which must be carefully managed with additional support, help, mentoring and advice. Without a doubt, your first experience of driving a coach with up to 53 passengers sat behind you will be a memorable one indeed!

Requirements:

· Enjoy driving and meeting new people.

· Have no more than 6 penalty points on your driving licence.

· Proficient in communicating and a good understanding of the English language as you will
be speaking to customers daily.

· Smart and presentable as you will be the face of our business.

If you are interested in discussing this role further, send through you application for consideration.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £13.00-£15.00 per hour
