Full job description

SML Group Ltd are currently looking for a Trainee Surveyor to join their successful and ever-growing team. With over 150 employees nationwide, SML Group Ltd delivers traditional surveying, specialist subsidence monitoring, and property data services to the land, building, insurance and valuation sectors.

The duties of a Trainee Surveyor include a variety of surveying tasks within the mortgage, insurance and valuation industry, including Valuation Surveys, Surveying and reporting on Buildings with Defects, producing initial detailed dimensions for property repairs, and reinstatement estimates.

Travelling within your regional area will be an integral part of this role and being in possession of a full, clean, manual driving license is essential for any applicant, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience required.

Location is imperative so applicants for this position must live within the Manchester postcode area ONLY. We are recruiting in other locations across the UK via Indeed. (Please search SML Group on Indeed for more vacancies)

Applicants with building surveying qualifications and/or experience in the property and construction industry are preferable but not essential as we would consider applications without the necessary qualifications/experience, who have an understanding of the construction industry and building pathology that can demonstrate the following skills:

- Methodical approach

- Attention to Detail

- Good Time Management

- Great Interpersonal Skills

- Punctuality especially when it comes to adhering to planned daily schedules

- Highly Motivated

- Comfortable with working alone

- Working with Android devices

- Producing Detailed dimension plans for scope of works and estimating purposes

- Producing both digital and hand drawn site maps and plans

The salary for this position would be £28,500 or above p.a., depending on experience and based on a working week of 45 hours door-to-door.
