Full job description

This is a Level 3 AAT Apprenticeship role - split 80/20 between working and earning with the employer gaining valuable hands on skills, and learning & gaining qualifications with Solveway Apprenticeships!

The role will provide the opportunity for someone who has a genuine interest in accountancy to start their career in accountancy. The role will be varied and you will be provided 'on-the-job' training to support your AAT apprenticeship studies.

What will the apprentice be doing?

You will largely be working on bookkeeping, VAT and accounts preparation projects but will also assist in some of the day to day functions that are essential to keeping the office running smoothly.

Some typical responsibilities will include;

  • Carry out general administration and provide support to the wider office team.
  • Assist with basic bookkeeping and the meticulous maintenance of financial records.
  • Support the preparation of VAT returns and payroll processes.
  • Help with producing accurate profit & loss accounts and balance sheets.
  • Learn to prepare self-assessment tax returns for various clients.
  • Record payments and receipts efficiently using industry-standard software.
  • Assist with the preparation of year-end accounts for limited companies.
  • Support client communications and the onboarding process for new clients.
  • Learn how to effectively resolve queries with HMRC.

Working week

Monday - Friday 9.00am - 5.00pm

Total hours per week: 37.5 hours a week

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Gaining the AAT Level 3 (AQ2022) qualification

Studying the following modules:

  • FAPS - Preparing Financical Statements
  • MATS - Management Accounting Techniques
  • TPFB - Tax Processes for Businesses
  • BUAW - Business Awareness

Training is via our live online learning portal, typically one day a week. Support by a qualified tutor and work coach to ensure successful completion of your apprenticeship.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

After successfully achieving the AAT Level 3 qualification, the candidate will be considered for the Level 4 AAT Apprenticeship training and/or the opportunity to progress to a more senior level with the firm and a career within accountancy.
