Apprentice/Assistant Accountant – In Practice

Location: East Hendred, Wantage OX12

Salary: £15,600 to £25,000 plus pension depending on experience

Start date: ASAP, full time, 37.5 hours per week although part time hours would be considered.

About Us

Chapman Worth Limited is an expanding accountancy practice in East Hendred, South Oxfordshire. We recently became an Employee Ownership Trust so our company is owned by our employees. We have two directors, 10 members of our Accounts and Tax Team and a separate Payroll team.

The Role

We are looking for a trainee/assistant accountant. This may appeal to someone who has recently completed A levels (or equivalent) looking to start their career in accountancy or someone who already has experience within an accountancy setting and is looking for a change.

Job Type: Full-time (part time considered)

Pay: £15,600-£25,000 per year

We will provide:

  • All necessary training, both on the job and AAT training (if relevant)
  • An interesting and varied workload with exposure to all aspects of what we do, including accounts preparation, tax, VAT, bookkeeping and payroll.

Day to Day Responsibilities

  • Office based supporting Senior Accountants and Managers.
  • Working with Xero, Office365 and other cloud applications.
  • Bookkeeping, VAT and MTD work.
  • Preparing accounts with supporting schedules and reconciliations.
  • Completing tax computations.
  • Identifying opportunities for additional work for existing clients.
  • A small amount of client contact initially.

  • Comfortable with all aspects of IT.
  • Ability to think independently and innovate.

Qualifications

A Levels (or equivalent) and strong GCSEs in Maths and English. Possibly already AAT qualified.
