This is an opportunity for someone who takes genuine pride in their work, thrives on technical challenges and enjoys leading and developing others.
We're not simply looking for an experienced climber. We're looking for someone who can set the standard, lead from the front and take ownership of delivering safe, efficient and high-quality tree work.
Established in 1998, Beechwood is an independent, Arboricultural Association Approved Contractor with a reputation for professionalism, quality and investment in its people.
The Role
As our Senior Arborist, you'll take a leading role in delivering a wide range of arboricultural operations, from routine pruning and maintenance to complex technical dismantles and challenging removals.
You'll be responsible for leading your team on site, maintaining excellent safety standards and ensuring work is completed efficiently, professionally and to the highest standard.
Key responsibilities include:
- Undertaking all aspects of tree surgery, including advanced climbing, pruning, sectional dismantling and complex technical removals.
- Leading, motivating and supporting a team of arborists and ground operatives.
- Planning and organising daily site operations to ensure safe and efficient delivery.
- Taking responsibility for team productivity, quality and operational performance.
- Mentoring and developing less-experienced arborists and apprentices.
- Ensuring compliance with risk assessments, method statements and safe working practices.
- Completing site documentation, equipment inspections and operational paperwork accurately and on time.
- Communicating professionally with clients, colleagues and management.
- Maintaining high standards of equipment care, site presentation and customer service.
About You
We're looking for an experienced arborist who combines outstanding technical ability with strong leadership skills and a positive attitude.
Essential requirements:
- Significant practical experience in professional arboriculture and tree climbing.
- Proven ability to undertake complex technical dismantles and advanced climbing operations.
- Relevant NPTC / City & Guilds chainsaw, climbing and aerial rescue qualifications.
- Competence in aerial cutting, rigging and sectional dismantling.
- Experience supervising or leading arboricultural teams.
- Strong understanding of arboricultural health and safety requirements.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
- A reliable, professional and proactive approach to work.
Desirable:
- Level 3 or higher qualification in Arboriculture.
- MEWP operator qualifications.
- Woodchipper and stump grinder qualifications.
- First Aid +F certification.
- Experience mentoring apprentices or developing junior arborists.
- Additional specialist arboricultural qualifications.
Above all, we're looking for someone who leads by example, takes ownership of their responsibilities and genuinely wants to contribute to a successful team.
What We Offer
- £45,000 annual salary.
- Up to £1,200 annual performance bonus.
- £500 Transfer Reward – £250 when you join and £250 following successful completion of your three-month probation.
- 21 days' annual leave plus bank holidays.
- Personal development plan with a dedicated training budget.
- Full PPE and professional climbing equipment provided.
- Access to a modern fleet of arboricultural machinery and equipment.
- Opportunities for continued technical development and career progression.
- A supportive working environment within an established, independent business.
