Full job description

We are currently looking to employ Qualified Ambulance Technicians to join the team at EMAS NHS Trust. We are recruiting across all five of our operational A&E divisions: Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire.

As a Qualified Ambulance Technician, you will serve our diverse community in the East Midlands responding to 999 calls as part of an emergency ambulance crew. You will care for and deal with a range of different patient conditions and use clinical guidelines to manage and direct patients to the most appropriate care pathway.

You must be already working as a fully Qualified Technician, with at least 12 months post qualifying experience as a Newly Qualified Technician at point of application.

You must hold one of the following clinical qualifications:
IHCD Technician/Ambulance Aid

Futurequals Level 4 Associate Ambulance Practitioner (AAP)

Qualsafe Awards FREC 5 (underpinned by evidence of FREC 3 & 4), Diploma in First Response Emergency & Urgent Care

University accredited Certificate in Higher Education Ambulance Technician Practice

We are also interested in hearing from applicants holding alternative clinical qualifications:

Class 1 Combat Medical Technician (CMT)/RAF, Royal Navy Equivalents

Please note, applicants with alternative qualifications may be considered to undertake an EMAS Technician conversion course.

As an Ambulance Technician you will serve our community responding to 999 calls as part of an emergency ambulance crew. You will deal with a range of different people and situations and use clinical guidelines to manage and direct patients to the most appropriate care pathway.

Attend cases of accident and sudden illness and respond to urgent, special and planned patient transfer requests.

Use advanced driving skills under blue light and normal traffic conditions to respond to emergency and routine calls as required.

Delivery of high quality and effective clinical and personal care and the transportation of patients, selecting and applying appropriate equipment and skills in line with the scope of practice and associated training.

Working as a crew or solo, you will initiate appropriate care and effective treatment to patients in both hospital and pre-hospital environment, selecting and applying appropriate skills and equipment safely and within appropriate level of training, competency and scope of practice.

You will already hold your full C1 category on your driving licence and you will need to provide evidence that you have completed a nationally recognised emergency driving qualification allowing you to drive under blue light conditions in a C1 size vehicle.
