Job summary

We are looking for a Head of Internal Communications to join the Internal Communications team at HM Land Registry (HMLR).

Providing strategic leadership, you will ensure delivery in line with agreed HMLR standards through developing communication platforms and channels in line with best practice, using strong evaluation techniques to underpin a cycle of continuous improvement across the wider communications team.

Job description

As Head of Internal Communications, you will lead, manage and develop the internal communications team by developing your own and your team's capacity, knowledge, experience and professional expertise in communications.

You will ensure that they deliver HMLR’s strategic campaigns to agreed standards and requirements, and build capability to meet current and future needs, whilst supporting delivery of HMLR's current business strategy and plan.

You will develop and maintain relationships at Director and Deputy Director level, particularly working in partnership with HR & OED colleagues to influence, align and secure support for HMLR’s internal communications. This includes collating and assessing data on communication trends to inform senior leaders and board committee on impact of communication activity.

Working with the Head of External Communications and Head of External Affairs, you will contribute towards, develop and implement a holistic communications strategy for the organisation.

You will also lead on the development of communications campaigns to support HMLR’s transformation portfolio, ensuring the most appropriate channels mix and that content is both relevant and timely.

Person specification

To be successful in this role you already hold membership of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR), or a willingness to obtain membership; and/or have demonstrable equivalent experience.

You have proven experience of developing and implementing communication strategies, measuring their effectiveness, and providing advice and guidance to senior leaders.

Experience of directing multi-audience communication campaigns and role is key to this role, along with experience leading on identifying evaluation criteria and reporting to senior leaders and policy teams.

In addition, you have experience of managing and developing a team and the ability to work in a fast-paced and high-profile communications role.

Selection process details

You will then be asked to complete a 250-word technical box which should be used to demonstrate how you meet the essential technical criteria as follows:

  • Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) membership, willingness to obtain membership or demonstratable, equivalent experience

Finally, you will be asked to complete the Personal Statement section in up to 750 words how you meet the essential experience criteria listed below in the attached Job Description below:

  • Experience of developing and implementing communication strategies, measuring their effectiveness, and providing advice and guidance to senior leaders.
  • Robust knowledge of communication tools and techniques used to implement strategies that meet organisational objectives.
  • Experience of managing and developing a team.
