Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and versatile solicitor to join our Governance Team, providing high-quality legal advice and support across a broad range of local government functions. The role offers a varied workload, including advising on committee and governance matters, planning and development issues, licensing applications and hearings, information governance, and regulatory matters. You will work closely with councillors, senior officers and external stakeholders, helping to ensure that the Council's decision-making processes are legally robust, transparent and effective. This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor who enjoys a diverse practice and wants to play a key role in supporting public services and local communities.


To contribute to the provision of effective and efficient Legal Services to the Council, its Officers and Committees.
There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the organisation.

This post requires a Disclosure Scotland Check and where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check. You will be required to provide this check. A confirmed offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

This post has a minimum requirement of two references, one of which must be your current or most recent employer.
