As such we are seeking a knowledgeable horticultural enthusiast to join our skilled team for the spring /summer months (April - beginning September 2025) to assist in the care and maintenance of our plants and trees, whilst providing exceptional horti knowledge, advice and support to our home & garden customers as well as retail sales support.

The Role

We are looking for a passionate and customer centric Retail Sales & Plant enthusiast to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for customer service and a keen interest and knowledge in plants, their maintenance and general gardening. This role involves the care and upkeep of our plant offering coupled with a front of house role in assisting customers with their purchases, providing expert advice on plants and gardening products, and supporting the team with the upkeep and organisation of our plant area.

Duties

  • Front of house: Our plant area is the first area our customers see so the successful candidate needs to be active in warmly welcoming customers and assisting them as required with their navigation of the site.
  • Providing knowledgeable customer help and advice with regard to plant and garden purchases and assisting them in finding the right products for their gardening needs.
  • Watering, and plant care & maintenance to ensure plants are healthy and well-presented. KEY ASPECT OF THE ROLE
  • Supporting the maintenance and upkeep of our plant sales area to an exceptional standard.
  • Supporting labelling and pricing of plants and gardening equipment.
  • Processing transactions accurately and efficiently at the till as required
  • Handling customer inquiries and resolving any issues to ensure a positive shopping experience.
  • Assisting in the overall upkeep of home and garden.

Hours Days

Full-time: 40+ hours per week to include weekend work

Skills Required

  • Customer Centric
  • Good basic knowledge & experience of plant & tree varieties (Advantageous)
  • Friendly, outgoing demeanour with excellent communication skills to engage customers effectively.
  • Conscientious
  • Reliable with excellent time keeping
  • Trustworthy
  • Hard Working
  • Able to work as part of an established team whilst being self-motivated
  • Flexible
  • Be physically tit (Capable of lifting and carrying i.e. a bag of compost, pushing plant trolleys, etc)
  • The position is a varied role, with the aforementioned detailing the type of work to be undertaken by the successful candidate. Please note that the list is not exhaustive and much will depend on the retail environment on the day

Knowledge and Experience

  • Previous experience in retail or customer service is essential.
  • A strong interest or background knowledge in plants, gardening, landscape maintenance, groundskeeping, or gardening is required.
  • Familiarity with plant watering requirements and irrigation is an advantage, however, training will be given.
