The Role

As Head Chef, you will lead high-quality food production across cafés, hospitality events, and dining services within the West Hub. You will ensure exceptional standards, compliance with food safety regulations, and effective day-to-day operations.

Key responsibilities:

- Lead, motivate, and develop a team of chefs
- Plan and deliver innovative, high-quality menus
- Manage purchasing, stock control, and supplier relationships
- Ensure compliance with HACCP, hygiene, and safety standards
- Monitor budgets, costs, and waste
- Oversee staffing rotas, training, and performance management
- Support sustainability initiatives aligned with University policy

About You

You will bring:

- Significant experience in a similar or large-scale catering operation
- Strong expertise in menu planning, purchasing, and kitchen management
- Proven staff management and training experience
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- In-depth knowledge of HACCP and food safety systems
- Relevant culinary qualification (NVQ Level 4 or equivalent)
- Advanced Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 4)
- Full driving licence

Please be aware that a Full UK Driving Licence is essential for this role (a full EU Driving Licence is acceptable on appointment, but the successful applicant must transfer to a UK Licence prior to confirming a start date).

You will be organised, adaptable, and passionate about delivering outstanding food and service while leading a high-performing team.
