We are looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate individual to join Women’s Health Psychological Services, specifically to work on the Neonatal Unit (NNU). The postholder will provide expert psychological assessment/consultation to parents whose babies have been admitted or recently discharged from the NNU. This is primarily an inpatient role, with some outpatient clinics. As a senior clinician, the post-holder will also be expected to offer supervision and line management to junior staff and trainees on placement at the hospital.

The post-holder is expected to demonstrate training and experience relating to working in the NHS (or equivalent) and with medical populations. Experience in trauma informed care and psychological models of treatment is essential, as is the capacity for effective teamwork in multidisciplinary teams.

Please be advised that we will only accept applications from candidates qualified to use the protected title of Clinical Psychologist or Counselling Psychologist, or psychotherapists registered with the UKCP, BACP or Association of Child Psychotherapists.

To provide a specialist psychological service to the Neonatal Service parents of babies admitted to the NNU or recently discharged and the nursing/medical team.

To normally achieve a minimum of 65% time in clinical activities

To contribute to the research/audit activities of the WHPS/NNU service

To provide supervision of junior practitioners and trainees on placement

To provide line management to junior psychological practitioners and oversee the performance and compliance of the services that they provide.
