Hourly Care Assistant for English Literature Student

Are you a recent graduate and not sure what to do next? Or are you someone with a passion for making a positive impact in their lives?

Our client is looking for a team of like-minded care assistants to support her with personal care and daily living. This is a fantastic opportunity to help make a positive impact on a young adult’s life.

Job Title – Care/Personal Assistant

Location – Oxford, OX1 3PN

Start Date – 26th September 2026 for training

Shift Pattern: A Mixture of days and nights (alternating blocks) - (Term Time only 8 weeks on 6 weeks off)

Rate of Pay - £16.00 per hour

Care experience is not essential for this role as full training will be provided.

About our client

Our client is looking for a team of full time and part time PAs. Our client is a second year English Language & Literature university student at Oxford University. She is a full-time electric wheelchair user and requires support in all aspects of her daily life.

She is an intelligent young woman who enjoys studying and learning. She likes spending time with her friends to relax and unwind. She is creative and likes to paint, crochet and make things. She likes to go to bookshops, museums, and art galleries. She enjoys listening to music and singing. She is adventurous and looking forward to exploring all aspects of university, including travel opportunities, academic events & debates and parties. She is keen to make the most out of her time at Oxford university.

As written by our client...

“Prior to starting university, I lived all my life in Manchester, apart from when I was 9 years old when I spent a year living in Berlin with my family. I have dual nationality and I can speak both English and German. I love reading and analysing novels. My favourite authors are JRR Tolkien and Jane Austen. I like going out with my friends to cafes, libraries, museums & art galleries, university societies, and pubs etc. I love baking and cooking, especially cakes. I crochet and sometimes do knitting. I also enjoy doing creative activities especially drawing and painting. I find watercolour portraits fun and relaxing. I have been swimming since I was very young and try to keep this up when I can. I am keen to explore other accessible sports. I love singing and participating in choirs. I like listening to music. In the past year I have been with friends to see Renee Rapp (London) and Conan Gray (Manchester). Studying at Oxford university is very intense (1-2 essays each week and examinations at the beginning of every term) which means sometimes there isn’t a lot of time for relaxing or leisure activities during term times.

I like to be as independent as possible, especially when I am out and about with friends. I do not want my personal care needs to get in the way of making the most of my time at university and during the vacations. Mostly, I do not require my PA to be with me or to follow me around when I am out. However, my PA needs to be no further than five minutes away and to be available immediately when I call. I am quite chatty and like talking about music, books and films while I am being helped with personal care or other tasks.”
