Padel 43 Ltd is an exciting, brand new padel club in Market Weighton that brings together sport, hospitality and community. Alongside high-quality padel courts, our venue will feature a café and bar, creating a welcoming venue where members, players, families and visitors can play, eat, drink, relax and socialise.

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on and commercially minded Club Operations Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day running and overall operational performance of the venue.

This is a particularly exciting opportunity to join at the start and help bring the club to life, from pre-opening planning and recruitment through to supplier setup, operating procedures and launch.

The role

Reporting directly to the Owner/Director, you will oversee padel operations, café and bar service, team leadership, customer experience, facilities, health and safety, financial performance and community engagement.

You will directly manage an Assistant Manager and lead a flexible, multi-skilled team whose members will work across club and hospitality duties on a rota basis.

The role involves:

• Working closely with the Owner/Director on the pre-opening and launch of the club.
• Sourcing suppliers for food, drink, cleaning and maintenance as well as other operational areas.
• Establishing processes and procedures including relevant health and safety, risk assessments, training and regulatory requirements are in place prior to opening.
• Overall responsibility for maintaining high standards of operations of the venue.
• Monitor, oversee and respond to customer feedback and complaints effectively and efficiently.
• Manage Playtomic (the booking platform) to ensure courts, equipment and facilities are available to book.
• Responsibility for hospitality at the onsite bar and café shaping and growing the service to meet demand.
• Management of stock, supplier relationships, deliveries and inventory controls.
• Recruit, lead and manage the team to build a positive culture and excellent customer service.
• Ensuring effective planning of staff rota’s, ensuring all staff and trained and relevant procedures are followed.
• Monitor budgets, revenue and profit with a focus on growing membership and identifying new opportunities.

About you

We are looking for a strong leader with a hands-on approach who thrives working in a customer-facing environment. You must be commercially aware, organised and proactive to lead the new club from the ground up.

You must be flexible as hours will include evenings, weekends and occasional additional hours to meet the needs of the business.

You will ideally have:

• Management experience in hospitality, leisure, sport, fitness, food and beverage, hotels or another customer-facing business.
• A genuine interest in sport, padel, fitness, hospitality or community-led leisure.
• Experience leading a team, managing rotas and overseeing day-to-day operations.
• Commercial understanding of budgets, revenue, labour costs, profit margins and performance reporting. As well as the ability to work to set objectives.
• The ability to recruit, train and motivate a team and build a positive working culture.
• Strong customer service, communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
• Confidence using booking platforms, point-of-sale systems, spreadsheets and digital management tools.
• A practical, solutions-focused mindset and a willingness to lead from the front.

Direct padel experience is desirable but not essential.

We welcome candidates with strong transferable management experience who can demonstrate the operational, commercial and leadership skills needed to run a successful club. Experience of opening a new venue, setting up suppliers or building operating procedures would be an advantage. Relevant food-safety training or a personal licence would also be beneficial.
