2-year Fixed Term Contract/Secondment

Circa £50,000 Per Annum, Pro Rata + £1,800 Essential Car User

Farringdon (London), Kent or Isle of Wight

The role

Southern Housing is looking for a Stock Condition Surveyor to join our team on a 2-year Fixed Term Contract/Secondment and to support a key project across our housing portfolio.

Reporting to the Survey Programme Manager, you will undertake a wide range of property surveys across Southern Housing’s portfolio using handheld technology. Your work will provide accurate, high-quality data to support investment programmes, business planning, compliance, and long-term financial forecasting.

You will carry out stock condition surveys, HHSRS assessments, Decent Homes assessments, EPC assessments, and RdSAP data collection, as well as other survey types as needed. You will also support digital infrastructure works, inspect installations, review contractor performance, and ensure works are delivered to the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance. This is a varied, field-based role that requires strong technical knowledge, excellent customer service, and a collaborative approach.

What you will be doing:

  • Undertaking home condition surveys to dwellings, blocks, and estates
  • Assessing homes against the Decent Homes Standard and HHSRS
  • Carrying out EPC assessments and collecting RdSAP data
  • Identifying hazards and urgent repair needs
  • Updating asset management systems with accurate property data
  • Supporting digital infrastructure projects and contractor oversight
  • Providing technical advice and maintaining excellent customer care with residents

This role can be based in London, Kent or Isle of Wight and requires sites visits on a daily basis.

What you will need:

  • Experience in stock condition / home condition surveying
  • Strong knowledge of Decent Homes and HHSRS
  • DEA qualified and able to complete EPC assessments (desirable)
  • Understanding of asset data, investment planning, and compliance
  • Strong communication, customer service, and IT skills
  • Social housing experience (desirable)
  • A valid DL and access to your car for business needs is required
