Full job description
IN SHORT
We're looking for a talented Quantitative Risk Analyst to help build, challenge and enhance the models that drive risk-taking decisions across one of Europe's leading energy businesses. Working at the heart of Risk Management, you'll combine advanced quantitative techniques, derivative pricing expertise and commercial insight to deliver robust risk models, independently validate complex valuation frameworks, and influence strategic decision-making across the organisation.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, challenging assumptions, and applying cutting-edge quantitative methods in fast-moving global energy markets.
WHAT WILL YOU DO
- Develop, enhance, and maintain quantitative risk models that underpin SEFE's Group Risk Framework, including MVaR, CMaR, CVaR, and PFE methodologies.
- Lead independent validation and review of valuation and exposure models used across risk management, P&L reporting, and balance sheet activities.
- Drive continuous improvement of modelling approaches, ensuring robustness, accuracy, and alignment with industry best practice.
- Maintain high-quality model documentation and governance standards across the risk landscape.
- Translate complex quantitative concepts into clear, actionable insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Partner with Risk Management, Middle Office, Trading, and Finance teams to ensure models are appropriately implemented and understood.
- Support external audits and assurance reviews by providing expert guidance on valuation and quantitative methodologies.
- Contribute to key projects that shape the future of risk analytics within one of Europe's leading energy companies.
WHAT WILL YOU BRING
- Master's degree (or equivalent) in Mathematics, Physics, Quantitative Finance, Financial Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline.
- Strong understanding of derivative valuation methodologies and market and credit risk measurement techniques.
- Deep knowledge of probability theory, stochastic processes, time series analysis, and mathematical modelling.
- Hands-on experience developing and maintaining market and credit risk models, including Monte Carlo simulation techniques.
- Programming experience, ideally within version-controlled environments such as GitHub.
- Strong analytical mindset with a natural ability to challenge assumptions, identify model limitations, and improve methodologies.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to explain sophisticated quantitative concepts in a clear and engaging way.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- A collaborative approach, intellectual curiosity, and a passion for solving complex problems.
