Experienced Van Driver - Drayman

3 Positions Available | Full-Time, Permanent | Full-Time Hours Over 4 Days

The Role

We are looking for three experienced Van Drivers to join the Lacons distribution team, working from our Lowestoft Depot and primarily delivering to customers across our wider distribution area.

This is a full-time position with full-time hours worked over four days per week. The role involves daytime multi-drop delivery work, with early starts and longer delivery days as required to complete scheduled routes.

Key Objective

To distribute Lacons products professionally, safely and efficiently to our on-trade customers while providing an excellent standard of customer service.

Our drivers are an important face of Lacons to our customers, so we are looking for people who take pride in providing a reliable, friendly and professional service.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete scheduled multi-drop delivery routes, safely and efficiently.
• Ensure deliveries reach the correct customers safely, accurately and on time.
• Safely unload deliveries at customer premises, including the manual handling of kegs, casks, cases and other brewery products.
• Professionally represent Lacons in all customer-facing situations.
• Provide a friendly and helpful service to pubs, bars, restaurants and other on-trade customers.
• Be personally responsible for the safe return of company property, empty containers and other returned items.
• Pick orders for distribution when required and ensure vehicles are loaded correctly and safely.
• Carry out daily vehicle safety and roadworthiness checks and report any defects promptly.
• Keep your allocated vehicle clean and presentable.
• Comply with current road traffic regulations and company health and safety procedures.
• Anticipate changes and adapt to evolving delivery requirements, traffic conditions and customer needs.
• Be prepared to work additional hours when reasonably required to complete scheduled deliveries.

About You

We are looking for experienced commercial van drivers who are comfortable working independently and dealing directly with customers.

You will need to be:

• An experienced and confident commercial van driver.
• Comfortable driving and completing deliveries including Central and Greater London.
• Experienced in multi-drop delivery work, or a similar fast-paced delivery environment.
• Confident dealing with busy traffic, challenging delivery locations, access restrictions and changing road conditions.
• Friendly, confident and professional when dealing with customers.
• Reliable, punctual and able to manage your working day effectively.
• A good communicator with a practical and logical approach to problem solving.
• Trustworthy, diligent and numerically competent.
• Physically capable of undertaking regular manual handling and delivery work.
• Smart and presentable, wearing supplied uniform and appropriate safety equipment.

Licence & Experience

Essential:

• Full UK driving licence.
• Previous commercial van driving experience.
• Confidence driving larger commercial vans.
• Ability to undertake the physical demands of brewery delivery work.

Desirable:

• Previous multi-drop delivery experience.
• Previous experience delivering within London.
• Experience within the drinks, hospitality, licensed trade or similar delivery environment.

Successful applicants will be subject to a satisfactory DBS check.

• Longer working days should be expected as part of the four-day working pattern
