Our clientele is international and our reputation for delivering complicated and precision engineered products is world renowned, from the innovative design, development and project management stages through to the manufacturing, installation and ongoing maintenance.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for joining the Design team as CAD Design Engineer working on the challenging requirements behind bespoke products, as you will be an integral part of the team that turns the client’s vision into a fully detailed engineering specification package for our manufacturing plant.
This key role involves research, development and modelling ideas whilst liaising with clients, project managers, designers and all the teams involved throughout the manufacturing/installation processes.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Liaise with clients and external suppliers in developing conceptual product designs for custom projects using 3D CAD systems.
- Generate and develop detailed product manufacturing packages following the Design for Manufacturing principles and business’s SOPs.
- Work closely with our in-house PM/manufacturing team to understand specific bespoke requirements and solutions to new challenges.
Skills, Experience and Knowledge required:
- HND (or higher) qualified in either Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Computer Aided Draughting and Design, with good numeracy skills and great attention to detail.
- Experience with Autodesk Inventor CAD or equivalent CAD packages such as Solidworks, SolidEdge.
- Good understanding of engineering design principles/processes, basic mechanical and electrical design or equivalent in furniture design.
- Interest in developing automation tools using simple logic commands through VBA or more advanced programming language such C#.
- Good understanding of manufacturing processes such as sheet metal cutting, forming, CNC milling, light fabrication, assembly of simple electrical circuits.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, willingness to learn and to keep developing your career.
This is a unique opportunity for individuals passionate about engineering and attention to detail as the products lifecycle is completely in-house managed, from initial conceptual design to all manufacturing processes and finally to product commission, leading to a continuous variety of experiences that maintain the role challenging and stimulating.
- CAD and hands-on training will be provided as knowledge of the market and products is not required.
Job Type: Full-time 39.5 hours per week, permanent position.
You should be flexible and adaptable to work hours as required by business needs.
You must be able to commute to work to Livingston, West Lothian.
