Full job description

Company Overview

Raw Press specialises in healthy, plant-based offerings, with a specialism in matcha drinks, acai bowls, smoothies and raw vegan snacks. We are passionate about creating delicious, nourishing foods and drinks that promote wellness and sustainability.

Our cafe in Chelsea has been running for over 10 years and is located just off Sloane Street, with a buzzy atmosphere, popular with the local community.

Job Overview

We’re on the lookout for a self-motivated and talented Vegan Chef who loves crafting beautiful, tasty, and wholesome raw desserts and snacks.

In this role, you’ll bring your culinary creativity to life by preparing innovative plant-based treats that delight our customers.

If you’re enthusiastic about raw food cuisine, this is your chance to shine in a dynamic, health-focused environment. Whilst snacks, granola, cookies and banana bread are the primary responsibility, due to the size of our team, tasks will also include preparing some salads and plant-based hot dishes such as courgette lasagne or curry, with room to incorporate specials.

Duties

  • Develop and prepare a variety of raw vegan snacks, plant-based baked goods such as banana bread and cookies, as well as some hot dishes and salads to our recipes using fresh, natural ingredients.
  • Follow recipes and ensure consistency in taste, texture, and presentation. We have certain dishes that always remain on the menu.
  • Nonetheless, experimentation with new flavour combinations and dessert concepts to keep our menu exciting is encouraged. Room to let your creativity flow, with freedom to incorporate specials, whether in rotating hot dishes, raw cheesecakes or other healthy bakes!
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen workspace, adhering to food safety standards.
  • Order ingredients and packaging as necessary, as well as keeping the stock room organised.
  • Assist with ingredient sourcing and inventory management to ensure freshness and quality.
  • Support team members during busy periods.
  • Educate customers about raw vegan options and dietary benefits when needed.

Experience

  • Prior experience in food production or culinary arts, especially with raw or vegan cuisine, is preferred.
  • Knowledge of food safety practices and proper handling of ingredients, with appropriate certification.
  • Experience with plant-based baking or food preparation techniques relevant to raw desserts would be ideal.
  • Familiarity with kitchen operations within a restaurant or similar setting is advantageous, with experience in kitchen management useful.
  • Strong attention to detail and creativity in food presentation.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Looking for someone self-starting, reliable and hard working, that can work quickly and efficiently, ideally with a proven flair for crafting plant-based food.

Starting pay is a base of £14/hour, but with a share of team bonus which would typically amount to an additional £3+ per hour.

Pay: £14.00-£17.00 per hour

Benefits:

  • Company events
  • Company pension
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Discounted or free food
  • Profit sharing
  • Store discount
