Crumb Together is a small independent vegan bakery in Childwall, Liverpool, specialising in handmade pastries, cakes, gluten-friendly bakes and wholesale orders.

We’re looking for a reliable, hardworking Bakery Team Member / Cake Decorator to join our small team. This role would suit someone who enjoys hands-on bakery work, takes pride in high standards, and understands the importance of cleanliness, communication and consistency in a food business.

This is a part-time role to begin with, with a genuine opportunity to progress towards full-time hours as training progresses and the business increases its orders. Applicants must be willing and available to increase their hours in the future.

ROLE DETAILS

• Location: Crumb Together, 4b Hattons Lane, Liverpool, L16 7QS
• Hours: Approximately 12–16 hours per week initially, usually over 2–3 shifts
• Days: Shifts may fall between Tuesday and Sunday
• Early production shifts and daytime bakery shifts may be required
• Pay: From £12.71 per hour, depending on age and experience
• Start date: As soon as possible
• Contract: Part-time, with the potential to grow into full-time hours

ABOUT THE ROLE

You will support production, cleaning, preparation, packing and general bakery operations. This is a practical role in a small bakery, so reliability and a good attitude are just as important as experience.

Tasks may include:

• Preparing and baking products from our weekly menu
• Supporting gluten-free/gluten-friendly production
• Assisting with pastries, cakes, brownies, cookies and wholesale items
• Cake decorating and finishing pastries.
• Packing wholesale and customer orders
• Following preparation sheets and daily task lists
• Completing cleaning tasks properly and on time
• Washing dishes, tins and equipment throughout the shift
• Completing end-of-day cleaning and close-down tasks
• Keeping the bakery organised, hygienic and ready for the next shift
• Communicating clearly if tasks are unfinished or stock or products are missing
• Supporting front of house when needed
• Following food-hygiene, allergen, and health-and-safety procedures

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

You must be:

• Reliable and punctual
• Able to work independently once trained
• Comfortable with early starts and weekend work
• Organised and able to follow a preparation sheet
• Clean, tidy and aware of the importance of hygiene
• A clear and honest communicator
• Able to work at pace in a small bakery
• Happy to complete cleaning, dishes and practical tasks
• Interested in vegan baking and high-quality handmade products
• Willing and able to increase towards full-time hours once trained and as the bakery grows

EXPERIENCE

Bakery, kitchen or food-production experience would be helpful, but the right attitude is most important. You do not need to be fully trained in everything immediately, but you must be willing to learn and follow our systems.

Experience in baking, pastry production, gluten-free baking, cake decorating, wholesale packing, food-hygiene procedures or a small independent food business would be an advantage.

HOURS AND PROGRESSION

The role will begin at approximately 12–16 hours per week over 2–3 shifts. As training progresses and the successful applicant becomes confident and capable, we intend to increase production and wholesale orders. The person appointed must therefore be interested in progressing towards a consistent full-time role when the hours become available.
