Senior Auditor/Health and Safety Advisor - UK Wide

PECS/Manchester (remote within England & Wales)

Main Purpose:

Reporting to the Head of Health, Safety, Quality and Compliance (HSQC), the purpose of this role is to lead GEOAmey's integrated audit and risk assurance programme, including contractual audits, Fire Risk Assessments (FRA), Site-Specific Risk Assessments (SSRA) and RIDDOR investigation assurance.

The role provides professional oversight of assurance activity across all sites, ensures investigations and risk assessments meet required standards, and supports operational managers to strengthen local ownership of health, safety and compliance.

Key Tasks:

Audit & Assurance Leadership

  • Plan and oversee delivery of the integrated audit programme.
  • Quality assure audit outputs and action closure.
  • Identify systemic risks and assurance themes.

FRA & SSRA Governance

  • Manage FRA cycle and register (3-year assessments and annual reviews).
  • Oversee SSRA implementation and annual review.
  • Ensure quality and consistency of risk assessments.

RIDDOR & Incident Assurance

  • Ensure all RIDDOR investigations are completed in line with the corporate policy
  • Be the primary lead on operational incident (UOF/Assault) RIDDOR investigations
  • Ensure SME-led operational incident RIDDOR investigations meet HSE standards.
  • Provide organisational MI and thematic analysis on incidents.

Operational Support

  • Advise and coach operational managers on risk, investigations and compliance.
  • Support response to audit, FRA, SSRA and RIDDOR findings.
  • Promote local ownership of risk and continuous improvement.

Team Leadership & Reporting

  • Line manage auditors and advisors and coordinate delivery schedules.
  • Produce assurance and risk reports for senior leadership.
  • Contribute to governance and improvement activity.
  • Support the utilisation of the latest technology within the audit team

Person Specification

  • H&S qualification (e.g., NEBOSH) - E
  • Significant experience in audit, compliance and/or health & safety - E
  • Strong incident investigation and risk assessment knowledge - E
  • Experience overseeing assurance across multiple sites - E
  • Ability to analyse risk themes and produce senior reports - E
  • Influencing and leadership skills - E
  • Experience in custodial/justice or secure environments - P

  • All roles within GEOAmey are subject to a risk assessment being completed to confirm the vetting status required for the applicant / job holder to undertake the duties of the role. This role has been risk assessed as requiring Ministry of Justice Enhance Level Clearance and Enhanced CRB.
