Full job description

We have an exciting opportunity at our City Campus Manchester to join our Creative Industries Department as a Specialist Technician (Media) on a permanent, part time (17.5 hours per week) basis.

As a Specialist Technician within Media - Broadcast TV/ film, Audio production, Graphic Design and Visual Effects, you will support the teaching and learning objectives of planned curriculum programmes through the provision of technical support. To order, allocate and maintain all materials and equipment required by staff and students for curriculum delivery and assessment. To support teachers in the delivery of the curriculum and enhance the student experience by giving demonstrations and providing general (direct/practical) support and advice.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Level 2 English & Mathematics.
  • Industry relevant qualification within Broadcast Media, Tv, Film and/or Graphic Design and Visual effects.
  • Knowledge of Broadcast Cameras and Digital cameras that shoot in Full HD, 4K and 8K.
  • Demonstratable experience of camera functionality and operation, alongside microphone set up and sound recording for moving image.
  • Experienced in studio and location recording for TV/ film and Audio.
  • First Aid qualification (or be prepared to work towards within first year).
