Social Media Storyteller
Part-time (21 hours per week)
Salary: £28,000 per annum FTE (£16,800 per annum actual)
Two-year fixed term contract
The Diocese of St Edmundsbury & Ipswich is looking for a creative, enthusiastic and engaging social media storyteller with demonstrable experience of making short films to meet the needs of an organisation and its key messages to join its Communications team.
Reporting to our Communications Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for developing film/video content for use online that engages with our audiences and communicates and inspires people in their activities to achieve flourishing congregations in the Church of England in Suffolk.
To this end, you’ll need experience and a general understanding of how best to optimise the use of social media, along with some insight into how film can enhance worship and/or mission. To be successful you’ll need the ability to connect with a wide range of people and communities and be willing to actively listen to identify stories that support key strategic messages, generate local interest and encourage others to join our congregations. You’ll then need to utilise your creativity and experience to identify the best ways to share these stories in ways that generate awareness and excitement for the life of church and inspire others, being aware of our range of audiences and both younger and older generations.
You’ll have strong IT and personal communication skills. No two days are the same so you’ll also need sound organisation skills. We would be pleased to hear from applicants who are sympathetic to the beliefs and aims of the Church of England and who enjoy working in a small team. As the role involves engaging with stakeholders across the diocese, access to a vehicle and a full, clean driving license is also essential.
The DBF is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. All post holders and volunteers are expected to share this commitment. All appointments are subject to acceptable pre-appointment checks, including a satisfactory DBS check.
The care and protection of children, young people and vulnerable adults involved in church activities is the responsibility of the whole church. Everyone who participates in the life of the church has a role to play in promoting a Safer Church for all.
Safeguarding is an integral part of the mission and ministry of the church in this diocese and is in line with our Growing in God strategy. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. Enhanced DBS check will be required.
For an informal conversation about the role, please contact Leonie Ryle, Communications Manager | on 07468 474483
