Thermoteknix, a successful and well-established company, is looking to recruit two more Production Technicians. These are varied and challenging roles and the successful applicants will be based at our Head Office in Waterbeach, just north of the Cambridge Science Park.

Thermoteknix is an award-winning innovator and manufacturer of night vision and thermal imaging equipment for Industrial applications, military, defence, security and law enforcement. Celebrating more than 40 years of business success, and its fifth Kings Award for Enterprise, the company continues to expand alongside demand for its award-winning and ground-breaking products.

Candidates

We are looking to recruit two experienced Production Technicians to augment our current team in the electro-mechanical assembly and test of a variety of infrared thermal imaging related products. Production involves job, batch and flow quantities and can range from cable assembly through to full system build and test.

Work Profile

As an Electromechanical Production Technician, you will play a crucial role in the manufacturing process, ensuring the efficient production of electromechanical devices. Your responsibilities will include assembling, testing, and troubleshooting electromechanical components and systems, adhering to quality standards and safety regulations. You will collaborate closely with engineers and other production team members to optimise processes and resolve technical issues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assembly: execute the assembly of electromechanical components and systems according to engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Testing: perform functional tests and quality checks on assembled electromechanical devices to ensure they meet performance and reliability standards.
  • Troubleshooting: identify and resolve issues encountered during assembly and testing processes, utilising diagnostic tools and techniques.
  • Documentation: maintain accurate records of assembly procedures, test results, and any deviations encountered during production.
  • Collaboration: work closely with engineers, designers, and other production team members to optimise manufacturing processes and improve product quality.
  • Safety Compliance: adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
  • Quality: contribute to quality assurance initiatives by actively participating in inspections, audits, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Equipment Maintenance: assist in the maintenance and calibration of production equipment and tools to ensure they are functioning properly and accurately.

Qualifications and Experience Required

Candidates should have experience in roles that demonstrate the skills required for successful technical support:

  • A formal Engineering/relevant qualification/experience.
  • Proficiency in electromechanical assembly techniques, including soldering, wiring, and mechanical assembly. Familiarity with basic electrical and mechanical principles is essential.
  • Some experience with optical assembly preferred.
  • Troubleshooting, fault finding and debugging skills.
  • SMT soldering (to 0201) and pcb repair skills an advantage.
  • Wiring and cable/harness assembly experience.
  • Computer literate.
  • The ability to read schematic designs.
  • Proficient in the use of standard test equipment e.g. Oscilloscope, DVM, signal generator.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, communicating effectively with colleagues and contributing to a positive work culture.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Basic understanding of analogue and digital video processing an advantage.
  • Understanding of clean room techniques for opto-mechanical assembly.

Additional requirements

Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime as required.
