Job description - Social Media Specialist

As the Social Media Specialist you will be responsible for the content and workflow strategy of the social media team to increase brand awareness, improve marketing efforts and increase social media KPIs including followers, likes, etc. across a range of social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, X, Tik Tok, LinkedIn, YouTube, and other developing social media channels relevant to communication strategy), all while maintaining our company style and voice.

The successful applicant will be a highly motivated, positive, and professional individual who possesses excellent motivation and communication skills and the ability to work under pressure.

Social media management experience and a proven background creating digital marketing strategies and content are essential.

Benefits include:

Salary: dependent on experience and qualifications.

Holiday entitlement: 20 days per annum. After two years of continuous employment, employees’ holiday entitlement will rise by one non-statutory day per year to a maximum total of 25 days per annum.

Optional private medical insurance is available after an initial period of six months.

Optional company pension.

Normal hours of work: Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 17:00

The role:

  • Managing all social media planning, implementation, and activation across both paid and non-paid social activity.
  • Help develop the overall social strategy, ensuring best practices for each channel.
  • Create on-brand content, including copywriting that is in line with business objectives and engages the target audience with an understanding of best SEO practices. This includes social media posts, blog posts, images and video content.
  • Take ownership of social channels, ensuring content is approved and posted on time throughout each week to achieve objectives.
  • Protecting and enhancing our brand reputation across multiple social media platforms.
  • Proposing and delivering social media campaigns, initiatives, advertising, and promotions.
  • Track and measure performance against the marketing KPIs, gaining insights into how content, strategy and processes might be improved.
  • Ensuring high standards of customer service are maintained by the team during customer contact via social media channels.
  • Regular reporting to management on the progress of all projects.
  • Creation of social content to keep the community engaged and interacting with content experience launching community initiatives (eg building an online forum, launching an ambassador programme, creating an event series).
  • Coordinate web activity linked to the promotional calendar and ad-hoc events.
  • Driving traffic to the website from social media platforms with a focus on sales and ROI.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with Facebook ads and other social ad paid platform marketing mediums.
  • Excellent knowledge and application of social media best practices across Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, Twitter, Linkedin, Pinterest and integration with other marketing channels.
  • Effective communication and motivation skills.
  • Informed decision-making with the ability to set and work with short-term, medium-term, and long-term targets.
  • Excellent attention to detail and fluency in both written and verbal English.
  • A quick learner who can adapt to a brand's tone of voice effectively.
  • Experience using social media management software such as Hootsuite.
  • Proven 4+ years working experience in social media marketing or as a Digital Media Specialist.
  • Demonstrable social networking experience and social media analytics tools knowledge.
  • Proven experience in managing social media campaigns and longer-term strategies.
  • Positive attitude, detail-oriented with good multitasking and organisational skills.
  • Collaborate with external agency teams to produce high-quality content for digital PR and marketing campaigns.
  • Knowledge of Photoshop or other image editing software and video editing software.

Qualifications

  • A degree or professional qualification in digital marketing-related discipline and/or journalism and other relevant fields.
