Full job description

Yorkshire has thousands of founders building businesses that create jobs, wages, investment and exports, and nobody tells their stories week in, week out. We’re launching a channel to change that, and we’re looking for the founding editor to run it.

What Yorkshire Success is:

A new YouTube-based business channel, launching February 2027, covering the people who start, grow, fund and sell businesses across West, South, North and East Yorkshire. A weekly founder interview, a weekly business bulletin, a fortnightly programme on companies raising investment, a monthly town spotlight, a newsletter and a podcast. Every story ends with a growth record: the jobs, wages, investment, sales and tax the business has created. Over time those records build a ledger of the growth Yorkshire’s founders have produced, which nobody currently keeps.

The role:

You will be the first hire and will build the channel from a blank page.

You will:

  • Set the editorial agenda and run the weekly output from day one
  • Present the bulletin and co-host the founder interviews
  • Find the stories: the start-ups, scalers, raises and exits across the region
  • Build and check the growth record for every business featured
  • Hire and lead a small team: a producer, a clips editor and a researcher
  • Write the editorial charter and corrections policy, and hold the line on both
  • Deal with the pre-publication legal checks, including on investment stories

You:

  • Several years in regional business journalism, in print, broadcast or digital, with a Yorkshire contacts book
  • Comfortable on camera, or willing to become so quickly
  • Able to read a set of accounts and tell whether a founder’s numbers add up
  • Interested in business as a subject: in how companies are built, not just in what they announceAble to tell an owner no, and explain why
  • Experience of video or podcast production is useful but not essential; we will hire for that

Terms

  • Full time, based in North Leeds, with regular travel across Yorkshire
  • Excellent Salary, plus a share in the business for the right person
  • Start date: December 2026, ahead of a February launch

How to apply

  • Send a short note, a CV and two things: a link to the best piece of business journalism you have made, and 200 words on the Yorkshire business story you think is going untold. Applications to keith.griffiths@yorkshire-success.com
  • .Yorkshire Success is owned by Keith Griffiths, founder and exiter of UKREiiF, founder of The Entrepreneur Festival.

Pay: £40,000.00-£60,000.00 per year
