Full job description
Happiness Managers are an essential part of our classroom team. The role encompasses responsibilities comparable to those of a traditional Teaching Assistant and Head of Year combined.
As a Happiness Manager, your key focus will be on the performance, experience and well-being of students, supporting in the creation of a safe, stress-free and positive classroom environment in order to ensure that students are happy in lessons.
Happiness Managers…
- Advocate for the needs of students, communicating with teachers to ensure that they can support all children in their class in the best way.
- Communicate with parents to ensure that both staff and parents have up-to-date pastoral and safeguarding information related to students, escalating and investigating any concerns.
- Share feedback with teachers that will help enhance their teaching approach and ensure that they meet our expectations for compassionate and engaging teaching.
- Provide cover teaching in case of teacher absence or technical issues.
- Complete detailed reporting of daily and weekly events which will be analysed by senior leadership to understand the current landscape of the school.
The successful candidates will have:
- Teaching or tutoring experience, preferably some online experience
- Full availability Monday-Thursday 8:45am – 5pm GMT
- Experience supporting students with SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities), including learners with anxiety, autism, ADHD, dyslexia, or other additional needs, is highly desirable.
- Fully functioning laptop/computer with Google Chrome and access to a stable internet connection
We are looking for candidates who can:
- Approach student interaction with compassion and empathy
- Develop relationships of trust with students which allow the school to support them to the best of our ability
- Help teachers promote positive behaviour in line with our virtual classroom guidelines
- Contribute personal opinion and insight during team meetings
- Complete accurate and detailed reports
- Establish an efficient and organised working routine
- Collaborate and communicate clearly with fellow team members
- Navigate online platforms and systems effectively (Slack, Monday.com, HubSpot, BigBlueButton)
- Track teaching according to the agreed curriculum or specification timeline
- Evaluate teaching approach across subjects and the resulting levels of student engagement, sharing any necessary feedback with teachers and/or SLT
- Adapt communication and classroom strategies to meet the individual needs of students with SEND, helping them engage confidently in an online learning environment.
Not essential, but an added strength would be:
- Previous safeguarding experience or training.
- Experience working in an SEN/SEND setting or supporting students with EHCPs.
- Interest in curriculum planning and design.
