Residential Childcare Worker (RCW) – Therapeutic Children’s Homes

Senior positions available for qualified applicants

Taunton & Bridgwater, Somerset

Full-time | Average 40 hours per week

£31,142 – £32,702 per year - Inclusive of sleep-ins

What We’re Looking For

  • Full UK manual driving licence
  • Willingness to complete the Level 4 Children, Young People & Families Practitioner qualification (if not already achieved)
  • Compassionate, resilient, and motivated individuals
  • Enhanced DBS check and references required

The Role

As a Residential Childcare Worker, you will:

  • Provide consistent, nurturing care
  • Build positive relationships with children and young people
  • Support daily routines and personal care
  • Help develop life skills such as cooking, budgeting, and independence
  • Encourage education, hobbies, and community activities
  • Respond calmly and therapeutically during challenging situations
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to care planning
  • Work closely with colleagues and other professionals
  • Help maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming home

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working with children and young people
  • Residential childcare experience
  • Understanding of trauma and child development
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
