Full job description

Are you a healthcare professional planning to transition to a non-clinical role outside the NHS?

Do you also have a background in art?

If so, we’d like to hear from you!

We’re looking for a dedicated individual to join us as a Medical Illustrator. You’ll need to be able to combine your clinical knowledge and your artistic skills to help produce our fully illustrated educational materials for healthcare professionals. We have more than 500 illustrated guides, including topics ranging from how to help feed a patient in bed, all the way through to management of an arterial line.

Clinical Skills provides illustrated training support materials for the NHS and higher education, which are used extensively by nurses and other healthcare professionals.

As one of our medical illustrators, you would become part of a growing team in a reputable company serving the healthcare industry, which is helping tens of thousands of NHS staff and students understand how to put evidence-based clinical practice into practice.

You’d be working from home full time (Monday to Friday), although you’d need to be within easy reach of London for occasional team meetings.

We’re looking for a person with clinical knowledge to help us produce our fully illustrated step-by-step clinical skills guidelines, which are used extensively by nurses. Our ideal applicant will have:

· Clinical awareness gained by having worked in healthcare at some point

· Excellent draughting skills including, ideally, a formal art qualification

· Knowledge of anatomy and physiology

· Detailed knowledge of Adobe Illustrator software

You’ll need to be able to grasp scientific or medical concepts and translate them into easy-to-understand artwork. Equally, much of the work involves drawing healthcare professionals and patients interacting with each other, in specific settings. The successful applicant will work closely with our editorial staff and our existing illustration team.

If this role sounds exciting to you, send us an application letter explaining why you’d be a good fit, your CV and some examples of your work. We’re particularly interested to see examples of life drawing.
