Baloo & Bagheera – Join the Jungle!

Webbs is an award-winning, family-run garden centre retailer with four stores, a growing e-commerce business, premium restaurants, and a passionate team committed to creating memorable guest experiences.

This year, our much-loved Enchanted Gardens event is heading deep into the jungle, and we’re looking for confident performers to bring Baloo and Bagheera from The Jungle Book to life along our magical outdoor trail.

Baloo

Baloo is warm, playful, cheeky, larger than life, and full of mischief. We’re looking for someone with great comic timing, strong improvisation skills, and the confidence to make children and families laugh while creating memorable jungle moments.

Bagheera

Bagheera is cool, calm, clever, sophisticated, and watchful. This performer should be able to command attention with subtle humour, warmth, with, and a strong sense of character.

As a character performer, you’ll be based outdoors along our enchanting trail, interacting with visitors and helping create an immersive experience they’ll remember.

You’ll be expected to:

• Stay fully in character throughout each performance.
• Engage confidently with children, families, and visitors of all ages.
• Improvise naturally and respond to unexpected moments.
• Create comedy, storytelling, and interactive moments.
• Work closely with other performers and the wider event team.
• Bring energy, enthusiasm, and personality to every shift.

Every family and interaction is different, so we’re looking for experienced performers with strong acting, improvisation, storytelling, and audience engagement skills.

Previous acting or performance experience is essential. Experience in character entertainment, children’s theatre, immersive entertainment, street theatre, improvisation, or interactive performance is highly desirable.

You’ll need to be:

• Confident, outgoing, and naturally engaging.
• Comfortable performing for children and families.
• Highly skilled at improvisation.
• Energetic, expressive, and able to maintain character.
• A strong storyteller with excellent comic timing.
• A team player who is passionate about creating magical experiences.

You’ll also need to be prepared for outdoor winter work, including wearing warm, physically demanding costumes and staying energetic while standing, walking, and interacting with visitors for extended periods.

Shifts are mainly evenings, weekdays and weekends, usually starting from 4pm and lasting 4–6 hours. Some may finish as late as 10pm, so please consider travel arrangements before applying.

This is a zero hour, fixed term role beginning 2nd October 2026 ending 4th January 2027. The event runs throughout the festive season, so evening and weekend availability is important.

The selection process may include individual and group interviews, with candidates asked to demonstrate character performance, improvisation, storytelling, and interaction skills.
