British Heart Foundation (BHF) is the UK’s largest independent funder of cardiovascular disease research. We can find better ways to prevent, treat and even cure cardiovascular conditions that rob so many of us of our loved ones. But we can’t do it
alone.
By volunteering for us, you are helping us fund lifesaving research to unlock treatments that could give someone a longer, healthier life. From babies born with a heart condition to people recovering from a devastating heart attack, you can help us give people more time with the ones they love.
What will I be doing?
BHF is seeking a volunteer who is passionate about how technology can support our shops and stores to generate lifesaving income. With a keen eye on problem solving, you will work with the Technology product team to help ensure we deliver easy to use systems that simplify life for stores and central teams helping them focus on delivering great customer service
The role will support the great work of the Retail and Commercial directorate by supporting the product owner develop, analyse and deliver the retail applications roadmap, with particular focus on implementing new product enhancements.
This is a great opportunity to gain experience working in tech developing new technology solutions to meet the ever-changing retail demand,
How much time do BHF need?
We are looking for someone who can commit to volunteer 7 to 14 hours a week, flexible days and hours.
This opportunity will begin early March 2026.
Where is the volunteering?
This role is a hybrid role which would involve volunteering from home and occasional travel to our London office.
What skills and experience do I need?
- Good understanding of and passion for technology and product development.
- Ability to build rapport with people of all skill levels.
- Capability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Creative mindset with the ability to generate innovative solutions.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
What training and support will I get?
All volunteers will complete training on MyVolunteer before the volunteering to ensure you are confident and happy in your role. On the day you will be j oined by a BHF member of staff and/or an experienced BHF volunteer who will provide you with the resources and information you need.
What will I get out of volunteering?
Whether you can give a few hours or a full day, you will make an impact as your time helps fund vital research and supports those affected by heart disease. Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, learn new skills and have some fun whilst making a lifesaving difference.
