Volunteer role Summary

This is to support the Facilities Team in maintaining clean, welcoming, and well-stocked hospitality areas at Shooting Star House, ensuring families, visitors, volunteers, and staff have access to refreshments in a safe and hygienic environment.

Hours flexible – twice a week for a couple of hours each time with one shift ideally on a Thursday 1.30pm-3.30pm

This a non paid volunteer role for 18 years and over.

Duties and key responsibilities

· Maintain high standards of cleanliness across hospitality and refreshment areas.

· Keep kitchen and beverage stations clean, tidy, and organised.

· Monitor and replenish supplies such as tea, coffee, milk, snacks, and related consumables.

· Check stock levels and expiry dates, particularly refrigerated items.

· Support infection prevention and hygiene standards within hospitality areas.

· Assist with preparing for internal events when required.

· Report any maintenance, stock, or hygiene concerns to the Facilities Team.

Essential Skills and experience

· Reliable and proactive with a willingness to take initiative.

· Understanding of good hygiene and infection control practices.

· Good attention to detail.

· Able to work independently and as part of a team.

· Comfortable moving around the hospice to carry out light stocking and replenishment duties.

· Trustworthy and able to maintain confidentiality.

· Understands and maintains appropriate personal and professional boundaries.
