Full job description

Job Title: Trainee Occupational Health Technician
Location: Newcastle with nationwide travel
Salary: £27,000 p.a.
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: 30 hours, 4 days per week, Monday to Friday

Right to live and work in the UK is required for this role.

The successful applicant must hold a valid driving licence and be able to drive a 3.5-tonne van in accordance with Optima Health's policies, procedures, and insurance requirements.

Role Summary

As an Occupational Health Technician, you will be at the forefront of our clinical delivery, performing a range of medical assessments across a wide varierty of customers. Working solo, or as part of a team on our client's sites, you will be deliverying safety critical medicals and promoting wellbeing initiatives to our portfolio of national clients.


Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Following training and assessment, you will undertake agreed clinical activities relevant to Optima Health occupational health services such as health surveillance.
  • Assist in undertaking a range of service items e.g., Driver's medicals, Well Person medicals, lung function tests, fitness tests and any other service that may be required.
  • Be accountable for delivery, recording and reporting health
  • Ensure the delivery of the highest possible standards of quality assured, evidence-based practice.
  • Work unsupervised at times both in the department and at other premises, delivering high standard OH services to clients allocated to their care.
  • Be responsible for cleaning and stock checking clinical areas as per protocols and checklists
  • Help promote the health and wellbeing of employees.

Experience, Skills, and Knowledge Required for the role

  • Sports and Exercise Science or a similar field
  • Live within an hours travel to either Cambridge, Norwich, Peterborough or live in East Anglia
  • Must be happy to travel and stay away if required (expenses paid for)
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • IT / PC skills
