Job Summary
We are seeking dedicated Volunteer Peer Mentors to support our community projects by mentoring and assisting girls and women. This role offers an enriching opportunity to develop mentoring and teaching skills while making a positive impact.

The Volunteer Peer will work closely with programme coordinators to foster a supportive environment, promote learning, and encourage personal growth among participants. This position is volunteering recognising the valuable contribution of volunteers in our organisation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to girls or women, fostering a safe and encouraging environment
  • Assist in organising activities and programmes tailored to the needs of participants.
  • Act as a positive role model, demonstrating respectful behaviour and effective communication skills
  • Collaborate with staff to identify individual needs and adapt support accordingly
  • Maintain accurate records of participation and progress as required
  • Promote inclusive participation and ensure adherence to organisational policies

Qualifications

  • Experience or interest in mentoring, working with youth or women is desirable
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate and inspire individual.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to support others’ development
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
  • Organised with good time management skills
  • Previous experience in support work or community settings is advantageous but not essential
  • Must be committed to safeguarding principles and organisational values
