About eSIM Go
Our key mission is to empower businesses to bring seamless, affordable connectivity to their customers, wherever they go. We take a disruptive approach to the traditional wholesale business model, combining best-in-class technology with Tier 1 mobile network operators.
With our support, businesses all over the world are unleashing the power of connectivity, and the growth we're enjoying is a testament to our hard work and highly skilled team. We leverage technology in everything we do, but it's our people who really make the magic happen.
About the role
As tech lead at eSIM Go, you'll take technical ownership of our Reseller platform, guiding the team from architecture through to delivery. You'll be hands-on with code while also setting the technical direction, raising the bar on quality, and making sure what we build is robust, scalable, and maintainable.
You'll work closely with the Product and Customer Success teams to shape features that provide direct value to our partners, and with engineering leadership to help set standards and practices across the team. You'll be the technical anchor for a multidisciplinary team, balancing delivery with long-term platform health.
Key responsibilities
- Set technical direction for the team, and own key architectural decisions for the Reseller platform.
- Design, write and review code, leading by example on the standards defined in the team.
- Design robust and scalable APIs to support any kind of client (desktop, mobile, etc).
- Manage and optimise distributed systems in a cloud environment.
- Identify repeatable tasks and drive automation across the team.
- Champion automated and regression testing to ensure we deploy bug-free code.
- Own technical documentation, both internal and external (customer-facing, release notes, etc).
- Act as a technical point of contact for other business areas where backend knowledge is required.
- Mentor and grow developers across the team, including supporting career development and technical upskilling.
- Partner with Product and engineering leadership on roadmap, estimation, and technical trade-offs.
Required skills & experience
- 10+ years of experience as a full stack backend developer, including experience leading or mentoring a team.
- Strong computer science foundations, mostly working in distributed systems.
- Proven track record setting technical direction and making architectural decisions on a live product.
- Extensive experience designing and writing scalable APIs using REST architecture.
- Experience writing code in the Golang programming language.
- Experience in a modern JavaScript web framework, e.g. Svelte, Vue.js or React.
- Experience working in an AWS cloud environment.
- Experience working in Agile environments, including shaping how a team works.
- Familiar with API and web app security standards and authentication methods (API key, JWT, OAuth 2.0, etc).
Preferred skills & experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics or equivalent.
- Experience in other programming languages such as Java, .NET or JavaScript.
- Experience writing IaC scripts and managing CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with frontend technologies such as Svelte, Vue.js or React.js.
- Experience with event-driven architecture.
- Prior experience as a tech lead, staff engineer or engineering manager.
Who you are
- An excellent troubleshooter with a methodical approach to problem-solving.
- A natural leader who enjoys raising the technical capability of those around them.
- A strong communicator, comfortable working with stakeholders and customers, and translating between technical and non-technical audiences.
- Comfortable working in a multicultural, multidisciplinary environment.
- Fluent in both written and spoken English.
- Collaborative and supportive, with a genuine passion for mentoring the team.
What we offer
- Competitive compensation package.
- Performance-based incentive programme.
- Flexible work arrangements, including remote work options.
- Access to ongoing training, workshops and professional development resources.
- Generous leave policies including vacation, sick leave and public holidays.
- Regular company events and team-building activities.
- Clear growth opportunities and career advancement paths.
